Educational Leadership :: Stock Market

What if every person in a leadership role in a school district was aligned to the same clearly communicated vision?

The unintended effect of bringing in someone to an executive position who is not aligned with the vision and coordinated efforts of a fully functional group can be destructive to the entire system and ultimately negatively affect student learning.

When a school system actually breaks beyond the norm to exceed in innovative ways, it's just like a stock breaking outside the upper Bollinger band. If a newly hired executive has a negative effect on the district, then the entire system comes tumbling down as fast as the stock would. The decline is always steeper and faster than the incremental steps it took to make the progress in the first place. What long term effect does this have on a school district or organization?

Does it ever recover to the point where it was when it went "outside the bands"?

How many of the most talented people leave to cut their losses?
